 Vueling joins forces with Next Earth and Iomob to be the first airline to sell flights in the metaverse

The company allies itself with Next Earth, the third platform in the metaverse, and with Iomob, shared mobility services startup.

Vueling, an airline belonging to IAG, will open a new channel for sale in the metaverse. The new channel will be ready before the end of this year and everything purchased in the metaverse will have real utility and will be used physically like any bill of airplaine. In this way, Vueling becomes the first airline to announce the sale of flights on such a platform.

To make it possible, Vueling enters Next Earth, the third largest metaverse by number of users (more than 230,000 users and 45,000 virtual owners), through Iomob, shared mobility platform with a presence in 270 cities. It is a startup company that since 2017 offers its technology to transport companies to integrate different services in the same application. Iomob is in charge of creating a specific APP for Vueling (usable in the Next Earth metaverse) and in which, in addition to flights, will be offered


Last mile mobility services (e-scooters, scooters, Uber, public transport, etc). From Next Earth, the user will be able to visualize real-world travel and also the carbon footprint of each stage, in addition to selecting and reserving the best form of transport for each moment. It will be a very useful tool to plan a trip, and everything that is acquired in the Vueling's app in the metaverse can be used in the real world.


The goal, according to Jesús Monzó, Manager of Distribution Strategy and Alliances at Vueling, “is to take advantage of technology and virtual environments, such as the metaverse, to offer a increasingly richer, simpler and more personalized experience for the customer planning a trip”.
